About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead a high-performing team in Commercial Banking at Scotiabank. As a Senior Commercial Banking Lead, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to Senior Client Relationship Managers and Client Relationship Managers in Mid-Market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality of the credit portfolio, including identifying and mitigating risk.
  • Manage a team of Client Service Specialists and Credit Analysts, providing guidance and support to ensure they are meeting their goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with Senior Client Relationship Managers and Client Relationship Managers to identify business development opportunities and develop strategies to pursue them.
  • Contribute to the development of training programs to ensure team members have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Support the Group Lead and Director in their absence, ensuring the smooth operation of the team.
Requirements
  • University degree with a business background, preferably an MBA or professional designation.
  • Experience as a lender with strong credit and selling skills.
  • Superior coaching and management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of credit structures and risk management.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong regulatory and compliance knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of Commercial Banking Distribution structure and the role of other groups within Commercial Banking.
