Position Overview

Hawkesbury General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist who excels in adaptability and prioritization, complemented by a strong commitment to patient care and empathy. This role is essential in a vibrant clinical setting that values compassion, innovation, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist, your primary focus will be on evaluating adult patients, with occasional involvement in the care of pediatric and neonatal patients. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Providing education and rehabilitation to empower patients in managing their respiratory conditions and enhancing their quality of life;
  • Responding to cardiopulmonary emergencies to restore ventilation and circulation, and assisting in the transport of critically ill patients;
  • Acting as a smoking cessation advisor;
  • Sharing your expertise with students and fellow staff members;
  • Contributing to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness;
  • Promoting overall health and wellness.

Position Details

This is a permanent part-time position, offering 0.45 ETP with 12-hour shifts available, including day, evening, and weekend schedules.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must:

  • Hold a diploma from an accredited respiratory therapy program and possess a current General Certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, free of any restrictions;
  • Have relevant experience in a hospital setting;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in critical care and pulmonary function testing;
  • Maintain current BCLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications; PALS certification is a plus;
  • Communicate effectively in both French and English.
