Job Summary

The Anesthesia Assistant provides specialized, high-quality patient-focused healthcare services for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. They assist the Anesthesiologist in delivering general anesthesia for surgery patients, administer medications, and perform activities such as sedation. The AA also manages arterial lines and provides constant monitoring of anesthesia depth. Additionally, they may act as a Respiratory Therapist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Anesthesiologists in delivering general anesthesia for surgery patients
  • Administer medications and perform activities such as sedation
  • Manage arterial lines and monitor anesthesia depth
  • Act as a Respiratory Therapist as needed

Requirements

  • College Diploma in Respiratory Therapy and General Certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Completion of accredited Anesthesia Assistant Program
  • Minimum 3 years as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Two years in the role of anesthesia assistant, preferred
  • Current WHIMIS, BCLS, ACLS, & NRP certifications
  • Knowledge of anesthesiology principles, practices, and equipment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in stressful situations
  • Computer proficiency
  • Customer service orientation
  • Fluency in English and French
