Position Overview

Hawkesbury General Hospital is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist who excels in adaptability and prioritization, complemented by a strong commitment to patient care and empathy. Key Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist, your primary focus will be on the assessment of adult patients, with occasional involvement in the stabilization of pediatric and neonatal cases. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Providing coaching and pulmonary education to empower patients in managing their conditions and enhancing their quality of life;
  • Responding to cardiopulmonary emergencies to restore ventilation and circulation, as well as assisting in the transport of critically ill patients;
  • Serving as a smoking cessation advisor;
  • Sharing your expertise with students and fellow staff members;
  • Contributing to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness;
  • Promoting overall health and wellness.

Position Details

This is a permanent part-time position at 0.45 ETP, featuring 12-hour shifts across days, evenings, and weekends.

Employment Requirements

  • A diploma from an accredited respiratory therapy program and a current General Certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, without any limitations;
  • Relevant hospital experience;
  • Proficiency in critical care and pulmonary function testing;
  • Current certifications in BCLS, ACLS, and NRP; PALS certification is a plus;
  • Effective communication skills in both French and English.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are certified Respiratory Educators and/or Certified Smoking Cessation Counselors.
