Job Overview

Bantrel Co. is on the lookout for a qualified Senior Project Cost Engineer / Specialist to enhance our team. This pivotal role is essential in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and economically. The Project Cost Specialist will play a critical part in delivering value-added analysis, controls, and reporting, which are vital for managing project expenditures effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of conceptual designs, studies, reports, and proposals.
  • Support the establishment and implementation of cost recording and reporting requirements. Conduct performance monitoring and control functions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain budgetary controls and accurate financial forecasts, utilizing a change management system while monitoring project status. Conduct ongoing cost data and cash flow analyses.
  • Support the specific project code of accounts and recommend necessary modifications and revisions. Maintain reports on field quantity unit rates and monitor performance metrics.
  • Oversee the progress of field contractors.
  • Assist in preparing cost data for proposals and contract negotiations.
  • Facilitate the re-casting of project estimates into manageable cost control budgets tailored to project needs.
  • Coordinate the project cost change management system (trending).
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs for specific disciplines or specialties using defined documents or assumptions.
  • Maintain the project job hour control system.
  • Assist with project financial reporting in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare information for specific cost studies. Evaluate study outcomes and provide recommendations for project team discussions.
  • Identify and define data sources and techniques for data acquisition, collecting necessary data for specific disciplines or specialty applications.
  • Coordinate the performance of pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, and cost allowances within a discipline or specialty.
  • Assist the estimating team in defining scope requirements for specific disciplines, collaborating with Engineering and other sources to gather necessary data for overall estimate preparation.
  • Prepare cost reconciliations during estimate preparation, performing data analysis, identifying issues, and making recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Engineering or Business, or a relevant qualification in Planning/Scheduling, Project Controls, or Project Management.
  • Several years of experience in a Project Controls-related field with increasing responsibilities.
  • Experience in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and a strong understanding of technical processes, engineering drawings, and financial reports.
  • Familiarity with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
  • Understanding of Project Codes of Accounts (COA).
  • Knowledge of cost/financial reporting systems and analysis, including forecasting and change management.
  • Proficient in project controls software such as EcoSys, Primavera P6, SAP, and Oracle.
  • Experience in capital cost estimating and services estimating.
  • Familiarity with cash flow development and assessment.
  • Understanding of cost control interfaces with project planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player.
