Job Overview

Bantrel Co. is in search of a skilled Senior Project Cost Engineer / Specialist to enhance our team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and economically. The Project Cost Specialist is instrumental in providing insightful analysis, controls, and reporting to effectively manage project expenditures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of conceptual designs, studies, reports, and proposals.
  • Support the establishment and implementation of cost recording and reporting requirements, while performing monitoring and control functions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain budgetary controls and precise cost forecasts, utilizing a change management system to monitor project status and perform ongoing cost data and cash flow analysis.
  • Assist in defining project codes of accounts and recommend necessary modifications and updates.
  • Oversee the progress of field contractors and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare cost data for proposals and facilitate contract negotiations.
  • Assist in restructuring project estimates into manageable cost control budgets tailored to project needs.
  • Coordinate the project cost change management system, including trending analysis.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs for specific disciplines or specialties based on defined documents or assumptions.
  • Manage the project job hour control system effectively.
  • Assist with financial reporting in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • Evaluate and coordinate information for specific cost studies, providing insights and recommendations for project teams.
  • Identify data sources and techniques for data acquisition, ensuring comprehensive data collection for relevant disciplines.
  • Coordinate the development of pricing structures and their application to takeoffs, derived quantities, and cost allowances.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to define scope requirements and coordinate data production for overall estimate preparation.
  • Conduct cost reconciliations during estimate preparation, performing data analysis to identify issues and propose solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Engineering or Business, or a relevant qualification in Planning/Scheduling, Project Controls, or Project Management.
  • Several years of experience in a Project Controls-related field with progressive responsibilities.
  • Proficient in performing quantity takeoffs and statistical analysis, with a solid understanding of technical processes, engineering drawings, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup processes.
  • Understanding of Project Codes of Accounts (COA) and cost/financial reporting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls software such as EcoSys, Primavera P6, SAP, and Oracle.
  • Experience in capital cost estimating and cash flow assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
