Job Overview

Bantrel Co. is in search of a qualified Senior Project Cost Engineer / Specialist to enhance our team. This role is essential in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and economically. The Project Cost Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining cost control and providing insightful analysis, controls, and reporting to manage project expenses effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to conceptual designs, studies, reports, and proposals.
  • Assist in developing and implementing cost recording and reporting requirements. Conduct performance monitoring and control functions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Oversee cost budgets and precise cost forecasts, utilizing a change management system while monitoring project status. Conduct ongoing cost data and cash flow analysis.
  • Support the specific project code of accounts and suggest necessary modifications and updates. Maintain field quantity unit rate reports and track performance metrics.
  • Monitor the progress of field contractors.
  • Assist in preparing cost data for proposals and contract negotiations.
  • Facilitate the re-casting of project estimates into manageable cost control budgets based on project specifications.
  • Coordinate the project cost change management system (trending).
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs for a discipline or specialty using defined documents or undefined scope assumptions.
  • Maintain the project job hour control system.
  • Assist with project financial reporting in accordance with Bantrel and/or client requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare information for specific cost studies. Evaluate study results and provide recommendations for project team consideration.
  • Identify and define data sources and techniques for data acquisition, collecting necessary data for specific disciplines or specialty applications.
  • Coordinate the performance of pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, quantity assumptions, and cost allowances within a discipline or specialty.
  • Assist the estimating team in determining scope definition requirements for a discipline or specialty, collaborating with Engineering and other sources to gather necessary data for overall estimate preparation.
  • Prepare cost reconciliations during estimate preparation, performing data analysis, identifying issues, and making recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or Business, or relevant qualifications in Planning/Scheduling, Project Controls, and Project Management.
  • Several years of experience in a Project Controls-related field with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and a strong understanding of technical processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and financial reports.
  • Familiarity with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes and management.
  • Understanding of Project Codes of Accounts (COA).
  • Knowledge of cost/financial reporting systems and analysis, including forecasting, change management, and metrics.
  • Proficient in project controls software such as EcoSys, Primavera P6, SAP, and Oracle.
  • Experience in capital cost estimating and services estimating.
  • Familiarity with cash flow development and assessment.
  • Understanding of cost control interfaces with project planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
