Job Overview

The Operations Control Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily and short-term (up to 7 days) operational activities to ensure effective management and coordination of aircraft and crew operations. This role collaborates with various departments within the organization to maintain a safe, efficient, and profitable operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned operational activities.
  • Strategically plan and coordinate operations to minimize negative impacts on customers.
  • Ensure precise flight forecasting on the day of operations.
  • Monitor flight activities and resource availability to facilitate proactive recovery planning and address irregular operations.
  • Advise on decisions regarding cancellations, delays, aircraft substitutions, or other operational actions based on requirements.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Control regarding aircraft availability and with crew scheduling for recovery options.
  • Serve as the primary contact during irregular operational situations.
  • Promote a positive workplace atmosphere and foster a healthy working environment.
  • Uphold the organization's Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in airline operations or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Aviation Reservations Software Systems.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Office, and adept in using the internet and email.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Capacity to interact with individuals in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner.
  • Proficiency in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in the airline industry is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with First Nations Organizations is beneficial.

Working Conditions

  • Shift work is a requirement.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Weekend and evening shifts may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity is necessary for operating desktop computers and peripherals.
