Position: Operations & Quality Control Support

Role Objective:

The primary goal of this position is to oversee the operations of a concrete plant, including managing concrete mixer drivers and ensuring maintenance, to guarantee the delivery of high-quality products and exceptional customer satisfaction.

  • Health and Safety:

    • Ensure daily compliance with safety guidelines by all employees.
    • Address safety concerns promptly.
    • Maintain accurate safety documentation.
  • Environmental Compliance:
    • Demonstrate a commitment to meeting or exceeding environmental regulations.
  • Sales Coordination:
    • Identify and communicate potential opportunities and challenges to the Plant Manager.
    • Follow up on customer inquiries and promote additional products when feasible.
  • Reporting Responsibilities:
    • Maintain precise daily and monthly operational records.
    • Ensure collection of 'cash on delivery' payments and maintain accurate sales and quotes.
    • Track fuel consumption accurately.
    • Facilitate timely approval and processing of invoices.
    • Ensure drivers complete and submit all required documentation.
  • Transportation and Logistics Management:
    • Supervise Ready Mix drivers on a daily basis.
    • Oversee concrete batching operations.
    • Schedule jobs and manage driver assignments for optimal fleet utilization.
    • Plan ahead for materials needed for upcoming projects.
    • Ensure accurate billing processes.
    • Manage material inventory, conduct monthly physical counts, and order supplies as necessary.
  • Operational Analysis and Improvement:
    • Utilize Key Performance Indicators, efficiency assessments, financial reports, and operational data to monitor performance, develop effective action plans, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Plant Maintenance and Image:
    • Ensure the plant is maintained according to established standards for cleanliness and overall appearance.
  • Quality Control Implementation:
    • Execute Lafarge's quality assurance program, including sampling and testing of concrete and aggregates, monitoring air content, slump, temperature, and conducting trials, while maintaining accurate records and reporting.
    • Conduct quality control tests independently, adhering to CSA, ASTM, and ACI standards, both on-site and at the plant.
    • Obtain and uphold valid ACI Field Testing Technician Certification.
    • Transport materials and samples as required between plants and job sites.
  • Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma required; Post-Secondary education in a related field preferred.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally to various locations.
    • Experience in the ready-mix concrete industry is advantageous.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, SAP, Command-Alkon).
    • Availability for overtime as necessary.
    • Customer service-oriented mindset.
    • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
