Responsibilities in this Role

  • Deliver comprehensive care on a full-time, part-time (respite), or emergency basis to children and adolescents.
  • Provide care for varying durations, as some placements may last only a few days or weeks, while others can extend for several years, depending on individual child and family circumstances.
  • Meet the diverse needs of children and youth, including nutrition, education, medical attention, and a safe, nurturing home environment.
  • Offer love, support, and stability to children throughout their placement duration.
  • Care can be provided through a Customary Care Agreement, Kinship Care Services, or as a Foster Parent.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational background or experience in child and youth studies, psychology, sociology, behavior, indigenous studies, or social work is advantageous.
  • Willingness to learn how to address the physical, biological, emotional, and psychological needs of children and youth.
  • A genuine passion for helping and making a difference in the lives of those in need.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Kunuwanimano's dynamic team.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to ensure the needs of children and youth are met.
  • A desire to provide love, acceptance, and guidance to any child or youth with optimism, patience, and consistency.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with First Nations for the benefit of children and youth.
  • Understanding the significance of cultural practices and a commitment to ensuring children and youth can engage in their traditions.
  • Must be prepared to complete all necessary documentation required by the ministry and the agency.
