Role Overview

Deliver comprehensive care on a full-time, part-time (respite), or emergency basis to children and adolescents. Provide care for varying durations, as some placements may last only a few days or weeks, while others can extend for several years, depending on individual child and family circumstances. Address the needs of children and youth, including nutrition, education, medical care, and a safe, nurturing home environment. Offer love, support, and stability to children during their time in your care. Facilitate care through a Customary Care Agreement, Kinship Care Services, or as a Foster Parent.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational background or experience in child and youth services, psychology, sociology, behavior studies, indigenous studies, or social work is advantageous. A commitment to understanding and meeting the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of children and youth. A genuine passion for helping others and making a difference in the lives of those in need. Ability to collaborate effectively with a dynamic team. Flexibility in scheduling to ensure the needs of children and youth are met. A desire to provide love, acceptance, and guidance to children and youth with optimism, patience, and consistency. Willingness to work in partnership with First Nations for the benefit of children and youth. Understanding the significance of cultural practices and a commitment to supporting children and youth in exercising their traditions. Must be prepared to complete all necessary documentation required by the ministry and the agency.
