Youth Program Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Youth Programmer will report directly to the Director of Youth Services and collaborate closely with the Regional Coordinators of the Youth Department. This role involves supporting the creation, implementation, and assessment of youth programs across the Mushkegowuk territory. The Programmer will work alongside front-line staff in various communities to pinpoint service delivery gaps and foster new partnerships, ensuring a comprehensive approach to programming and health services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sports and Recreation, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with Indigenous youth.
  • In-depth understanding of current social challenges within the Mushkegowuk region and the implications of multi-generational trauma.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Driver's License.
  • A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Check are required.
  • Strong knowledge of Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
  • Mental health training and relevant work experience are advantageous.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office and other professional software.
  • Familiarity with the Cree language is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to various communities within the Mushkegowuk territory.
