Your Role as an Alternative Caregiver

As an Alternative Caregiver, you will play a vital role in the lives of children and youth by offering them a loving and stable home environment. You will be responsible for meeting their physical, emotional, and developmental needs, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and valued.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive care to children and youth on a full-time, part-time (respite), or emergency basis.
  • Create a nurturing and supportive home environment that is free from hazards and promotes well-being.
  • Meet the diverse needs of each child, including nutrition, education, medical care, and emotional support.
  • Collaborate with our dedicated team of professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children in your care.

Qualifications:

While formal education in child development, psychology, or social work is beneficial, a genuine passion for helping children and a commitment to their well-being are paramount.

  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the unique needs of each child.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the diverse needs of our children and youth.
  • An understanding of cultural practices and a commitment to supporting the traditions of Indigenous children.
