The Opportunity

We are seeking a Residential Counsellor to join our Developmental Services team. The successful candidate will provide home life skills training and transition planning to males with developmental disabilities/dual diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individuals with support and information to make decisions about their daily living activities
  • Facilitate life skills programming to promote independent living
  • Provide community outings and escorts to support individuals in participating in community activities
  • Manage challenging behaviors in a residential and community setting

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary diploma/degree in the Social Services field
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Valid First Aid and Safe Management certifications
  • Minimum two years of recent work-related experience in the Developmental Service sector

Skills and Abilities

  • Individual and group facilitation skills
  • Assessment skills for service delivery and daily operational issues
  • Program planning skills to implement, evaluate, and modify programs
  • Effective crisis intervention skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English
