About the Role:This is a full-time position that requires a strong passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. As a Residential Counsellor, you will be responsible for providing personalized support to residents, advocating on their behalf, and facilitating their independence.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement individual support plans to promote residents' personal development and well-being
- Provide advocacy and support to residents in their daily lives, including personal care and hygiene, community integration, and crisis management
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, colleagues, and community members to ensure comprehensive support for residents
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including medication administration and learning opportunities
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents, adhering to health and safety protocols
- Provide orientation and support to new staff members, students, and volunteers
- Completed Developmental Services Worker Diploma or related degree/diploma
- Valid and current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level C Certificate
- Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate
- Minimum 6-12 months' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges
- Experience with implementing Individual Support Plans and medication administration
