The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Residential Counsellor to join our team at our Youth Justice Residence. As a Residential Counsellor, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to youth in detention, helping them to develop life skills and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to youth in detention, helping them to develop life skills and achieve their goals.
  • Facilitate group sessions and activities to promote social skills, community awareness, and personal growth.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to support youth in achieving their goals and reintegration into the community.
  • Collaborate with community partners and referral sources to provide comprehensive support services to youth.
  • Provide crisis intervention and management services as needed.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, such as social work or youth justice.
  • Valid First Aid and CPI certifications.
  • At least one year of recent work experience in a related field, preferably in youth justice or residential care.
  • Strong knowledge of the youth justice system and community resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
