Job Description

As a vital member of the Diabetes/Endocrine Program multidisciplinary team, the Diabetes Educator - Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive diabetes education to both clinic outpatients and inpatients preparing for discharge.

  • Deliver patient education on various aspects of diabetes management, including medication self-administration (injections, insulin pumps), continuous and intermittent glucose monitoring techniques, and adjustment of insulin and oral hypoglycemic agents under a Medical Directive.
  • Apply nursing science, theory, skill, and critical decision-making to provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent care.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals within the interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with a recognized nursing regulatory body.
  • Certification in diabetes education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing diabetes education to patients and families.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
