Job Summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking a highly skilled Millwright Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, and conveyor systems
  • Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic tests to identify and resolve equipment issues
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to ensure seamless operation of equipment and systems
  • Perform other duties as required to support the maintenance team

Requirements

  • Valid 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification
  • Extensive experience in the water/wastewater industry or large industrial plants
  • Training and certification in metal fabrication, welding, and maintenance machining
  • Proven knowledge and experience in using maintenance programs and routines related to water and wastewater treatment equipment
  • Ability to obtain Operator-in-training certifications in wastewater treatment and collection, and water treatment and distribution
  • Self-motivated with strong teamworking skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Valid Class 'G' or better driver's license

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with varying climatic conditions and potential exposure to treatment chemicals, sludge, water, and wastewater.
