POSITION SUMMARY
The role of an Industrial Millwright encompasses a variety of responsibilities essential for the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems within water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position requires proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and performing both predictive and preventative mechanical maintenance tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct maintenance on pumps, including servicing and repairs such as impeller checks, wear ring replacements, and motor/gearbox alignments.
2. Oversee the servicing and adjustment of valves, including pressure reducing valves and pilot-operated systems.
3. Maintain and repair various conveyor systems, ensuring optimal performance of industrial machinery.
4. Perform minor repairs on piping systems, including flanges and gasket collars.
5. Evaluate and adjust process performance to enhance efficiency, adhering to established protocols.
6. Execute testing procedures to monitor equipment conditions, including vibration and temperature checks.
7. Utilize the City’s maintenance software effectively for tracking equipment performance.
8. Maintain accurate logs and records of equipment conditions in compliance with established procedures.
9. Uphold cleanliness and safety standards in work areas as per industry practices.
10. Adhere to safety policies and regulations, ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. A valid 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate of Qualification with substantial experience in the water/wastewater sector or large industrial settings.
2. Additional training and certification in metal fabrication and various welding techniques are advantageous.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with maintenance programs related to water and wastewater treatment equipment.
4. Ability to obtain necessary operator-in-training certifications within the probation period.
5. Strong self-motivation and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently.
6. A valid Class 'G' driver's license with a clean driving record.
7. Comprehensive understanding of relevant statutes and regulations impacting the department.
8. Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and working in confined spaces.
