Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Signature and Special Events, the Special Events Coordinator will oversee logistical coordination and assist the Special Events Officer in achieving both revenue and participation objectives.

The Coordinator will serve as the primary contact for Diabetes Canada and will be tasked with:

  • Collaborating with vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and event participants.
  • Providing administrative assistance to the events portfolio.
  • Coordinating with peers across the organization to ensure adherence to business practices.
  • Supporting the management and organization of fundraising initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesRevenue Generation Support
  • Assist the team in meeting or surpassing annual fundraising targets by facilitating various fundraising events and programs aligned with regional and national strategies.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and optimize revenue generation opportunities, such as ticket sales, silent auctions, and sponsorships.
  • Engage with sponsors and other event participants through solicitation and follow-up efforts.
Event Coordination
  • Work with team members to identify, cultivate, and implement plans for Special Events at the local level.
  • Support the marketing strategy and execution for Special Events and partnerships.
  • Identify potential sponsors for Signature Events and Peer-to-Peer Fundraising initiatives.
  • Manage event administration, database oversight, and financial reconciliation in collaboration with other Coordinators within the Fund Development team.
  • Prepare impact reports and event summaries for all hosted events.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in fundraising, sales, event coordination, marketing, or the non-profit sector.
  • Proven experience in managing special events and engaging with volunteers.
  • Familiarity with email marketing, social media, and design tools such as Canva.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in digital technology.
  • Goal-oriented and achievement-driven.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing needs.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Computer literate, including experience with social media platforms.
