Position Overview

Evertz Microsystems Limited is a leader in the design and manufacturing of innovative audio and video solutions for the broadcast and film sectors. We are currently seeking a dedicated HR Specialist who possesses a proactive mindset and a friendly demeanor. The ideal candidate will effectively balance organizational objectives with employee needs, ensuring a supportive workplace culture.

This role will focus significantly on Health & Safety, Payroll, and Employee Relations, making prior experience in these areas highly advantageous. The HR Specialist will report directly to the HR Director and collaborate closely with the Plant Manager, engaging with a diverse workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive HR support and guidance to both management and staff.
  • Oversee the complete recruitment process, including training and onboarding.
  • Address employee relations matters and conduct investigations into workplace concerns.
  • Develop and uphold HR policies and procedures, particularly in Health and Safety and compliance.
  • Manage payroll processing and administration of employee benefits.
  • Administer Health & Safety programs and facilitate related training sessions.
  • Keep management informed about current employment legislation and best practices.
  • Assist in the annual performance evaluation process.
  • Plan and coordinate company events and employee gatherings.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor to foster relationships with staff.
  • Handle general HR administrative tasks, including record-keeping and absence management.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant HR experience.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on tact and diplomacy.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and the capability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments and payroll processing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HR software such as UKG Pro is advantageous.
  • Certifications in First Aid/CPR and as a JHSC member are beneficial.
