Position Title: Science and Technology Programs Instructor
Institution: Vancouver Island University
Responsibilities:
- Deliver introductory courses in subjects such as biology, chemistry, computer science, fisheries and aquaculture, geology, mathematics, physics, forestry, and resource management.
- Develop and organize instructional materials.
- Facilitate both individual and group learning experiences.
- Construct and execute student assessment strategies.
- Engage actively as a member of the teaching faculty.
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.
- Able to collaborate effectively within a team-focused environment.
- Dedication to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in educational settings.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Prior experience in teaching relevant subjects.
Subject Areas:
- Biology, Chemistry, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics: Doctorate or Master's degree with pertinent experience.
- Forestry: Master's degree in natural resource management or 5 years of relevant professional experience, with eligibility for membership as an RFT or RPF with FPBC.
- Geology: Master's degree in a related discipline.
- Resource Management and Protection: Master's degree or Bachelor's degree accompanied by 5 years of relevant work experience, alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills.
