Position Title: Science and Technology Programs Instructor
Institution: Vancouver Island University
Responsibilities:
- Deliver introductory courses in various scientific disciplines including biology, chemistry, computer science, fisheries and aquaculture, geology, mathematics, physics, forestry, and resource management.
- Develop and organize instructional materials for courses.
- Facilitate both individual and group learning experiences.
- Construct and execute student assessment strategies.
- Engage actively as a member of the academic faculty.
Essential Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to pedagogy and enhancing student learning outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-focused environment.
- Dedication to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in educational settings.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching relevant subjects.
Academic Background:
- For Biology, Chemistry, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics: Doctorate or Master's degree with pertinent experience.
For Forestry:
- Master's degree in natural resource management or a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Eligibility for membership as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the Forest Professionals of British Columbia (FPBC).
For Geology:
- Master's degree in a related discipline.
For Resource Management and Protection:
- Master's degree or Bachelor's degree accompanied by 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
