POSITION OVERVIEW
The Facility Condition Evaluator I is an introductory role within the BGIS Professional Services team. This multi-disciplinary team comprises engineers and technical experts who deliver services across BGIS accounts, including Asset Management, Building Science, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Energy Efficiency, and Sustainability. The Facility Condition Evaluator position offers invaluable experience in site evaluation and engineering judgment, allowing for independent work while being supported by a top-tier team of engineering professionals.
The Facility Condition Evaluator I implements building condition assessment methodologies and technical standards to conduct asset evaluations aimed at identifying asset conditions and deficiencies.
The results of this assessment process lead to recommendations for Capital Project initiatives, paving the way for roles in Project Management, Engineering Design, and Construction Management.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts site assessments at client properties, identifying building components and evaluating their conditions. Prepares reports utilizing BGIS software for RealAsset, our proprietary Asset Management platform. Offers recommendations and cost estimates for repairs or replacements of building envelopes, components, and systems for inclusion in the capital budget plan. Performs additional duties as required.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
A university or college diploma in a relevant technical discipline such as architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, building science, or building engineering. Although this is an entry-level position, 1-3 years of relevant experience is advantageous. Familiarity with technical standards and processes related to building condition assessments, particularly the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E, is beneficial. Understanding of cost estimation processes for the repair and replacement of building components and systems. Basic knowledge of building science, encompassing architectural building envelopes, mechanical and electrical systems, and site components. General awareness of building design, construction, and facility operations in commercial settings. Ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly. Strong written communication capabilities. Proficiency in MS Excel and a willingness to learn additional software applications. Excellent computer skills. Attention to detail. A valid driver's license with the capacity to travel 50-70% of the time.Licenses and Professional Accreditation
