Position Overview

The Mechanical and Electrical Condition Assessor I is an entry-level role within the BGIS Professional Services team. This multi-disciplinary team comprises engineers and technical experts who deliver services across various BGIS accounts, including Asset Management, Building Science, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Energy Efficiency, and Sustainability.

As a Mechanical and Electrical Condition Assessor, you will gain invaluable experience in site evaluations and engineering judgment, working autonomously while being supported by a leading team of engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct building condition assessments to identify asset conditions and deficiencies.
  • Perform site visits at client locations to evaluate building components.
  • Utilize BGIS software for reporting purposes in RealAsset, our proprietary Asset Management platform.
  • Provide recommendations and cost estimates for repairs or replacements of building systems for capital budgeting.
Qualifications

A university or college diploma in a relevant technical field such as architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, building science, or building engineering is required. While this is an entry-level position, 1-3 years of relevant experience is advantageous.

Applicants should possess:

  • General knowledge of technical standards and processes related to building condition assessments, particularly ASTM standards.
  • Familiarity with cost estimating processes for building component repairs and replacements.
  • A foundational understanding of building science, including knowledge of architectural envelopes, mechanical and electrical systems, and site components.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and the ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Strong computer skills and a valid driver's license with the ability to travel 50-70% of the time.
  • Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation such as Tech or RET are considered an asset.
