Job Opportunity:

The Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team at the Cross Cancer Institute. As a leading cancer treatment centre, we offer a unique opportunity to work with a world-class team of clinicians and researchers.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance programs, implementing new treatment techniques, and conducting quality checks on the radiation treatment planning process. They will also be involved in research, teaching, and academic activities, and will have the opportunity to engage in clinical or academic appointments in the Division of Medical Physics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement quality assurance programs
  • Implement new treatment or planning techniques
  • Conduct quality checks on the radiation treatment planning process
  • Assist in the drafting, implementation, and review of policy
  • Assist with the radiation safety program

Requirements:

  • Certification by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine in Radiation Oncology Physics (CCPM) or equivalent
  • Graduate of a CAMPEP-accredited graduate and/or residency program
  • PhD or MSc in Medical Physics
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical physics and ability to take responsibility for critical clinical decisions
  • Adaptability and ability to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of clinical, academic, and teaching excellence
  • Image guided radiotherapy and/or computer simulation experience
  • Experience or interest in brachytherapy and/or SRS
