Opportunity Overview:

In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager within the provincial Diagnostic Imaging Quality, Safety, and Education framework. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert leadership and direction in the field of interventional radiography (IR) imaging, ensuring advancement and standardization across the province. This position allows for flexibility in location, as it is designed to be a provincial role without direct oversight of a staff team.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Medical Radiation Technologist III, your duties will encompass:

  • Acting as a key resource for diagnostic imaging management, radiologists, and students, facilitating innovative solutions and offering guidance on IR imaging challenges.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of AHS IR equipment to provide comprehensive training and education for staff, establishing best practices and provincial standards.
  • Developing and implementing protocols for departments across the province, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Planning, coordinating, and evaluating educational initiatives and improvement opportunities identified by the Diagnostic Imaging Quality Assurance program.
  • Serving as a liaison and clinical lead among technologists, radiologists, administrative staff, and healthcare providers in the realm of IR imaging.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess:

  • A diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program.
  • Active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Membership in good standing with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a technologist specializing in interventional radiography.
  • Experience in facilitating, instructing, and mentoring MRT students.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical, medical, and administrative personnel.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on active listening.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and demands.
  • A compassionate approach, emphasizing patient and family-centered care.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • Completion of process improvement courses or certifications.
  • Training in leadership, conflict resolution, change management, and effective communication.
  • Consideration of equivalent education and experience will be given.
