Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is tasked with delivering expert nursing care for patients, particularly those with intricate and unpredictable health conditions. This role encompasses autonomous nursing practices, administering prescribed medical interventions, taking a leadership position within the healthcare team, and ensuring seamless coordination of patient care and discharge processes. The CNS exemplifies a dedication to the vision, mission, and values of Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
Service and Assignment: Patient Care Services - Unit 2ABC
Shift and Hours of Work: 1.00 FTE - full-time - days, typically 07:15 - 15:30
Compensation: As per applicable Collective Agreement
Specifications: Temporary position with an end date subject to operational needs. Work assignments and hours may be adjusted as necessary.

Education and Experience:
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program;
- Current active registration with the regulatory nursing body;
- Certification in Gerontological Nursing is advantageous;
- Valid CPR certification; and
- Experience in Gerontological Nursing is preferred.
Abilities and Skills:
- Proficiency in both official languages (French and English) is essential;
- Proven effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal relationship capabilities;
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities;
- Capacity to prioritize care for individual patients or groups;
- Competence in delegating care appropriately and monitoring the outcomes;
- Ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously;
- Commitment to pursuing self-development opportunities;
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team;
- Adaptability to rapidly changing situations;
- Ability to maintain focus amidst frequent interruptions;
- Competence to perform in a high-pressure and demanding environment;
- Proven satisfactory employment history, including attendance; and
- Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
Knowledge:
- Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses;
- Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses;
- Scope of practice as defined in the Registered Nurses Act;
- Clinical nursing knowledge relevant to the specialty area;
- Roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members;
- Principles of delegation; and
- Relevant health information legislation and regulations.
