Primary Objective:
The main objective of the Senior Sales Manager is to secure a substantial volume of group and meeting business from local, regional, and national corporations, associations, or other organizations. This role is also accountable for maximizing team productivity. The Senior Sales Manager will typically act as a vital liaison for the hotel during significant industry events, business functions, and community engagements to ensure positive recognition of the hotel and the company within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solicit, negotiate, and generate contracted business from the hotel's largest key account revenue sources by adhering to the hotel's business strategy.
  • Represent the hotel at industry trade shows, client events, and brand forums in key account markets. Travel may be required.
  • Prospect for new business utilizing various methods including phone outreach, sales databases, outside sales visits, participation in community events, internet research, and supplier partnerships.
  • Engage with primary third-party business representatives at local, regional, and national client events to secure optimal business opportunities for the hotel.
  • Actively participate in industry organizations (such as MPI, PCMA, ASAE) at local and regional levels and seek committee or board positions, which may require a time commitment during regular business hours away from the property.
  • Regularly interact with key account clients and decision-makers outside of the sales office to present proposals, negotiate contracts, entertain, and cultivate strong, lasting relationships that benefit the hotel's business strategy.
  • Utilize revenue management techniques and strategies to recommend corporate rate proposals.
  • Respond promptly to all Requests for Proposals, ensuring prospective clients receive the best possible offers to secure additional business for the hotel.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine sales action plans.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date contact management system.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts that align with the hotel's business objectives, ensuring desired arrival, departure, and volume patterns are met.
  • Communicate client requirements internally to ensure accurate information flow between clients and hotel staff.

Additional Responsibilities:
Perform any other tasks necessary to fulfill the primary purpose of the position.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:
Over five years of experience in large group sales within a full-service hotel, demonstrating successful outcomes.

Proven sales goal responsibility of no less than $2.0 million.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in selling large groups within the existing market.

Required Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Certifications:
CMP.

Required Technology Skills:
Proficiency in either Marriott CI/TY or similar systems.

Travel Requirements:
As needed, potentially up to 25% of the time.
