About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Services Manager and Clinical Director, the Psychologist is a key member of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive services to adults and their families.
The Centre for Emotions & Health within Mental Health & Addictions invites applications for a skilled Psychologist. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues while delivering assessments, diagnoses, consultations, and psychotherapy to patients experiencing somatic symptom disorders. Proficiency in conducting intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy assessments and treatment is essential.
The role also involves active participation in quality improvement initiatives, including peer video supervision processes designed for ongoing clinical development.
About You- Possess a Doctoral degree from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology.
- Hold registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP).
- Have a minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience.
- Demonstrate advanced psychotherapy skills and training in ISTDP.
- Exhibit competency in utilizing psychological testing within the realm of adult mental health.
- Possess proven experience conducting both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapy modalities.
- Have demonstrated experience in developing group psychotherapy programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
- Ability to collaboratively formulate treatment plans with clients and their families.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team setting.
- Prior experience working in adult outpatient mental health is preferred.
- Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in providing services.
- Familiarity with local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset.
- A valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
- Competencies in other languages are preferred; French is an asset.
Permanent, Part Time (50%); 37.5 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives$62.74 hourly
Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
