About the Role

The Psychologist, under the supervision of the Health Services Manager and Clinical Director, plays a vital role within an interdisciplinary team dedicated to providing support to adults and their families.

The Mental Health and Addictions department is seeking a qualified Psychologist to contribute to the Centre for Emotions and Health. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with team members to deliver comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy for individuals experiencing somatic symptom disorders. Proficiency in conducting intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy assessment and treatment is essential. Additionally, the candidate will engage in quality enhancement initiatives, including peer video supervision for ongoing professional development.

Qualifications


• Doctoral degree from an accredited Clinical Psychology program

• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)

• At least two years of relevant clinical experience

• Advanced skills in psychotherapy with training in ISTDP

• Competence in psychological testing within adult mental health

• Proven experience in both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapeutic interventions

• Experience in developing group psychotherapy programs

• Familiarity with the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

• Ability to collaboratively formulate treatment plans with clients and their families

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

• Preferred experience in adult outpatient mental health settings

• Flexibility and creativity in service delivery

• Knowledge of local community resources and agencies is advantageous

• Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

• Proficiency in additional languages is preferred; French is an asset

Work Schedule
  • Permanent, Part-Time (50%); 37.5 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate is $62.74.

Successful candidates may also qualify for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under a defined Return of Service agreement.
