About the Role

The Psychologist will report directly to the Health Services Manager and Clinical Director, functioning as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering services to adults and their families.

The Mental Health and Addictions department is seeking a qualified Psychologist to enhance the team at the Centre for Emotions and Health. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with fellow professionals, engaging in assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy for individuals experiencing somatic symptom disorders. Proficiency in conducting intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy assessment and treatment is essential. The role also involves participation in quality enhancement initiatives, including peer video supervision for continuous clinical growth.

Qualifications


• Doctoral degree from an accredited Clinical Psychology program

• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)

• At least two years of relevant clinical experience

• Advanced skills in psychotherapy and training in ISTDP

• Competence in psychological testing related to adult mental health

• Proven experience in delivering both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapy

• Experience in developing group psychotherapy programs

• Familiarity with the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

• Ability to collaborate with clients and their families to formulate joint treatment plans

• Strong communication skills

• Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

• Previous experience in adult outpatient mental health is preferred

• Flexibility and creativity in service delivery

• Knowledge of local community resources and agencies is advantageous

• Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

• Proficiency in additional languages is preferred; French is an asset

Work Schedule
  • Permanent, Part Time (50%); 37.5 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage is $62.74.

Successful candidates may also qualify for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under a defined Return of Service agreement.
