Are you passionate about making a significant difference in the lives of veterans and their families? The Mustard Seed Society is looking for a Veterans Advocacy Program Supervisor to lead our Veterans Advocacy Program.

The Supervisor will be instrumental in managing and coordinating the execution of our Veterans Advocacy Program across multiple locations. This role includes overseeing a dedicated team of advocates and peer support specialists who provide comprehensive assistance to veterans facing challenges such as poverty and housing instability. The Supervisor will ensure the provision of exceptional services aimed at alleviating homelessness among veterans and enhancing their housing security.

This position requires regular travel between various sites to facilitate in-person oversight.

Employment Type: Fixed Term
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with potential evening and weekend hours
Reporting to: Health and Wellness Manager
Location: Multiple sites
Number of Positions Available: 1

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to the team of veteran advocates and peer support staff.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance assessments to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Facilitate professional development and training opportunities for team members.
  • Implement data collection strategies to monitor service metrics and client satisfaction.
  • Analyze data to evaluate program success and identify improvement areas.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and veteran service agencies to enhance program visibility and secure referrals.
  • Foster strong partnerships with organizations that provide services to veterans to ensure cohesive support.
  • Oversee program implementation to meet established goals and timelines.
  • Identify service delivery challenges and propose solutions as necessary.
  • Assist in developing strategies to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare regular reports on program activities and outcomes for stakeholders.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of client interactions and service provision.
  • Work alongside Health and Wellness Managers to develop and assess relevant policies.
  • Maintain accurate client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Facilitate emergency interventions when required.
  • Contribute to program evaluations as requested.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • A strong commitment to addressing homelessness in Alberta.
  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in supervising or managing teams.
  • Experience in program development and client engagement.
  • At least four years of experience working with vulnerable populations; experience with veterans is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality standards and relevant legislation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with data management systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • This role involves working in various locations, including health and wellness centers and community agencies.
  • Ability to work in diverse weather conditions is necessary.
  • Physical activities such as lifting, traveling, and driving are part of the job.
  • Moderate physical and mental effort is required to manage the responsibilities effectively.
