The Mustard Seed Society is looking for a Veterans Advocacy Program Supervisor to lead our dedicated team in providing essential support to veterans facing challenges such as poverty and housing instability.
The Supervisor will be instrumental in managing the Veterans Advocacy Program, ensuring effective coordination and execution of services aimed at enhancing the well-being of veterans in our communities. This role involves overseeing a team of advocates and peer support specialists who are committed to delivering comprehensive assistance to those in need.
This position may require travel between various locations to facilitate in-person supervision and support.
Employment Type: Fixed Term
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with potential for evening and weekend work
Reporting to: Health and Wellness Manager
City: Multiple locations
Number of Positions to Fill: 1
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of veteran advocates and peer support staff.
- Conduct regular performance assessments and team meetings to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
- Implement data collection strategies to monitor service effectiveness and client satisfaction.
- Analyze program data to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with community organizations and veteran service agencies to enhance program visibility and referral processes.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Oversee program implementation to meet established goals and timelines.
- Identify and address barriers to service delivery, proposing necessary adjustments.
- Support the development of strategies to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare regular reports on program activities and outcomes for stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate documentation of client interactions and service provision.
- Work alongside Health and Wellness Managers to develop and evaluate relevant policies.
- Maintain compliance with legal and ethical standards in client record-keeping.
- Facilitate emergency interventions when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- A strong commitment to addressing homelessness in Alberta.
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field; a master's degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in team supervision and management.
- Experience in program development and client relationship building.
- At least four years of experience working with vulnerable populations; experience with veterans is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of confidentiality standards and relevant legislation.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with relevant information systems.
- Strong organizational and advocacy skills.
- Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- This role involves working in various settings, including health and wellness centers and community agencies.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions is essential.
- Physical activities such as lifting and traveling are required.
- Moderate mental effort is necessary to manage sensitive situations.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of an Employment Background Check is mandatory.

- Must maintain valid vehicle insurance for company-related travel.
