Lead Nurse, Surgical Services

Are you passionate about providing exceptional nursing care? We are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to take on the role of Head Nurse at Northern Health Authority. This position is ideal for someone who values compassionate patient care and has a strong commitment to clinical excellence.
Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the Head Nurse plays a crucial role in upholding the Vision and Values of Northern Health, adhering to BCCNM Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics.
The Head Nurse is accountable for leading and mentoring clinical staff across various departments, including the Operating Room, Post Anaesthesia Recovery Unit, Surgical Daycare Unit, Endoscopy Unit, Central Supply, Booking Office, and Visiting Specialist Clinics.
This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the diverse physical, social, and psychological needs of patients, in line with established policies and procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 06:30 to 17:00
Compensation:
The new wage is: $70.26/hour

Qualifications:
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
- A minimum of five years of recent experience in Operating Room/Surgical Services, including two years in a supervisory role.
- A Peri-Operative Certificate and current BCLS Level C certification.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong clinical skills relevant to surgical, recovery, and endoscopy care.
- Ability to manage conflict and respond effectively in crises.
- Knowledge of compliance standards in the Surgical Suite environment.
- Capability to identify educational needs and provide training to team members.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Critical thinking skills to prioritize patient care and resources.
- Leadership qualities to mentor and evaluate staff performance.
