Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the Head Nurse will embody the Vision and Values of Northern Health, adhering to BCCNM Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics.
This role entails offering leadership and clinical expertise to all personnel in the Operating Room, Post Anaesthesia Recovery Unit, Surgical Daycare Unit, Endoscopy Unit, Central Supply, Booking Office, and Visiting Specialist Clinics.
The Head Nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet the physical, social, and psychological needs of patients, in alignment with established policies and procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 06:30 to 17:00
Compensation:
The wage for this position is $70.26/hour.

- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
- At least five years of recent experience in Operating Room/Surgical Services, including two years in a supervisory role or equivalent experience.
- A Peri-Operative Certificate and current BCLS Level C certification.
- Strong clinical skills to manage surgical, recovery, and endoscopy care.
- Ability to handle conflict and crisis situations effectively.
- Ensure compliance with established standards in the surgical environment.
- Identify learning needs and provide resources for team members.
- Lead and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Utilize critical thinking to prioritize patient care and resources.
- Serve as a professional role model and advocate for staff.
- Supervise and evaluate staff performance, addressing any issues promptly.
- Engage effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
