Mission

The Fund Operations team plays a crucial role in overseeing the operational aspects related to both the Alternative Investment Funds developed by Wealthsimple and any forthcoming operational fund initiatives.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead the Fund Operations team, overseeing the funds established by Wealthsimple Investments Inc. as an Investment Fund Manager.
  • Collaborate directly with Asset Management, Compliance, Product, Trading, Tax, and R&D teams to ensure that Fund Operations processes are streamlined and adhere to industry standards.
  • Supervise the team responsible for daily operational tasks that guarantee the accuracy of client and fund records.
  • Establish funds from an operational standpoint, coordinating fund administration, custody arrangements, transfer agent agreements, sub-advisor documentation, and onboarding funds to Fundserv.
  • Consult with legal partners to review and negotiate contracts with fund administrators and custodians.
  • Advise on and identify the most efficient and sustainable methods for establishing Private Funds and Fund of Funds.
  • Manage the operational aspects of wrapping a fund, collaborating with sub-advisors and facilitating direct investments.
  • Work alongside legal and asset management teams on Offering Memorandums and Green Sheets.
  • Utilize data analytics to pinpoint inefficiencies and propose effective solutions.
We're looking for individuals who:
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in fund management or fund administration, with a proven track record in launching new funds, onboarding funds with custodians, and collaborating with fund administrators and sub-advisors.
  • Have expertise in working with middle office and tax teams to develop policies and procedures for the fund.
  • Are recognized as subject matter experts in fund creation and administration, with experience working alongside custodians, transfer agents, and sub-advisors.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of Fundserv from both a fund manufacturing and dealer perspective.
  • Are experienced in establishing Private Funds and Fund of Funds and are knowledgeable about various liquidity measures.
  • Have a background in producing Offering Memorandums and Green Sheets.
  • Have experience in operationally wrapping a fund and collaborating with sub-advisors.
  • Have prior experience leading a team.
  • Are enthusiastic about technology, particularly in the fintech and alternative investment sectors.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage large datasets under tight deadlines.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and a positive demeanor, thriving in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Excel and familiarity with the Google suite.
  • Are naturally inquisitive, seeking to understand discrepancies and uncover underlying issues.
  • Embrace a challenging mindset, questioning conventional assumptions and seeking innovative solutions.
  • Have a growth-oriented mindset, viewing challenges as opportunities for improvement.
  • Have completed or are pursuing relevant industry certifications (CAIA, CSC, CFA, CIM, etc.).
  • Possess experience or familiarity with SQL, which is an added advantage.
