We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Fund Operations team at Wealthsimple Digital Assets Inc. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of our alternative investment funds.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Fund Operations team in managing the daily operational processes related to our alternative investment funds.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Asset Management, Compliance, Product, Trading, Tax, and R&D, to ensure seamless fund operations and adherence to industry guidelines.
- Develop and implement efficient fund creation processes, including setting up fund administration, custody arrangements, transfer agent agreements, and sub-advisor documentation.
- Consult with legal partners on contract review and negotiation with fund administrators and custodians.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize fund operations and reduce costs.
- Work closely with the Asset Manager and legal teams to develop and maintain Offering Memorandums and Green Sheets.
- Utilize data analytics to drive business decisions and identify areas for process improvement.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in fund management or fund administration, with a strong background in launching new funds, onboarding funds onto custodians, and working with fund administrators and sub-advisors.
- Expertise in middle office and tax team collaboration to build policies and procedures for fund operations.
- Subject matter expertise in fund creation and administration, with experience working with custodians, transfer agents, and sub-advisors.
- Strong knowledge of Fundserv from a fund manufacturing and dealer perspective.
- Experience in setting up private funds and fund of funds, with familiarity with various liquidity measures.
- Proven track record of leading a team and driving process improvements.
- Passion for technology, particularly fintech and alternative investment spaces.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and Google Suite, with experience working with large datasets.
- Natural curiosity and a growth mindset, with a willingness to challenge assumptions and drive process improvements.
- Industry certifications, such as CAIA, CSC, CFA, or CIM, are an asset.
- Experience with SQL is a plus.
