About the Role

The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Planning Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Development Services department, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of long-range community planning initiatives that align with the City's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice and consultation to Senior Staff, Departments, and City Council on community planning policy and initiatives.
  • Develop, monitor, review, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs, planning policies, and regulations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the City's Official Community Plan and other long-range planning documents.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify emerging community needs and develop effective strategies to address them.
  • Attend meetings of Council, Committees of Council, and associated bodies to provide expert advice and guidance.

Requirements:

  • Post-graduate degree in planning or a related field.
  • At least six years of experience in municipal government, with three years of supervisory experience.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Registered Professional Planner or Licensed Professional Planner with the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of BC.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, astute political acumen, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
