Laboratory Operations Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Laboratory Operations to join our team at Dynacare. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation and management of the laboratory department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the scientific and technical functioning of the laboratory
- Ensure that appropriate methodology and equipment are in place
- Review quality control and proficiency testing, recommending corrective action where necessary
- Develop, modify, implement, and communicate department-related policies, procedures, and manuals
- Provide assistance and counseling to employees on the interpretation and administration of department-related policies and procedures
- Identify, prioritize, and develop annual department budget needs
- Monitor supplies and orders routine stock as required
- Oversee inventory activity and assist in resolving issues
- Recruit, select, place, perform management, counseling, and selection for department positions
- Ensure each employee receives proper instruction and safety training for each job assigned
- Operate the department, including scheduling, training, and orientation of staff
- Develop, recommend, and/or deliver training and development initiatives for all department staff
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of previous managerial experience in a clinical environment
- BSc in Biochemistry or certified Medical Laboratory Technologist
- Knowledge of managerial leadership systems and continuous improvement practices
- Understanding of business and operational planning, including resource allocation and best practice customer service techniques
