Role: Manager of Laboratory Operations

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the effective management and operation of our laboratory department, ensuring both administrative and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the scientific and technical integrity of laboratory operations.
- Maintain appropriate methodologies and equipment for optimal performance.
- Conduct quality control reviews and proficiency tests, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and Quality Control Manager on relevant matters.
- Analyze incomplete work and interpret complex cases.
- Guarantee that all abnormal and urgent reports are processed according to departmental protocols.
- Develop, revise, and communicate departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to staff regarding departmental policies.
- Ensure timely distribution and proper filing of updates and notifications.
- Identify and prioritize annual budget requirements for the department.
- Manage financial accountability for departmental budgeting and controls.
- Oversee inventory management and order supplies as needed.
- Address inventory discrepancies and resolve related issues.
- Lead recruitment, selection, and performance management for departmental roles.
- Ensure comprehensive training and safety instruction for all staff members.
- Oversee operational functions, including scheduling and staff orientation.
- Design and implement training initiatives for department personnel.
- Accurately record and submit attendance and payroll information.
- Monitor compliance and prepare statistical reports as required.
- Delegate tasks effectively and maintain laboratory facilities and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge of managerial leadership and continuous improvement practices, ideally within a laboratory setting.
- Strong understanding of business operations, resource allocation, and customer service excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry or certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
- Experience in creating and enhancing Value Streams and Process Maps to improve service delivery.
- 7 to 10 years of managerial experience in a clinical environment, demonstrating readiness for leadership responsibilities.
Working Environment:
- Standard office and laboratory settings.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, with some standing and keyboard use.
- Flexibility in working hours may be required.
- Occasional travel may be necessary.
