Position Overview

In the role of Technical Analyst at FortisBC, you will be tasked with delivering technical assistance to end users. This encompasses desktop computing, mobile devices, communication systems, user support, printing solutions, network infrastructure, and server storage, along with data center equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver frontline and advanced technical assistance to end users.
  • Manage and fulfill advanced technology requests.
  • Conduct departmental helpdesk functions, including problem identification, documentation, and tracking.
  • Oversee departmental software and hardware inventory records.
  • Execute upgrades, installations, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to client inquiries and incident tickets for support.
  • Research advanced solutions for hardware and software issues.
  • Administer software licensing.
  • Provide advanced support for mobile and smart devices.
  • Repair computer software and hardware, coordinating with external vendors for repairs and quotes as necessary.
  • Assist senior staff with various projects.
  • Create device images and software packages for deployment.
  • Set up and deliver PC equipment, manage the recycling of surplus equipment.
  • Process quotes, arrange procurement, and validate necessary hardware and software.
  • Track work performed in the problem management system, prepare progress reports, and maintain corporate workstation assets.
  • Stay updated on the company's computer systems.
  • Manage multiple resources, breakdown tasks, delegate, and set milestones.
  • Estimate and execute tasks required for minor or intermediate projects.
  • Provide intermediate support to Technical Analyst 1.
  • Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • 2-year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in executing small projects.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • current operating systems relevant to the role
    • imaging processes in a corporate setting
    • software deployment in a corporate environment
    • working knowledge of server environments
  • Ability to maintain business relationships with suppliers, service representatives, and other businesses.
  • Experience in a Windows Server-based network environment, including user maintenance, scheduling, printer configuration, and remote connectivity.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of all peripherals and network-attached devices, including printers, scanners, plotters, cameras, and mobile devices.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's license.
