Position Overview

In the role of Technical Analyst at FortisBC, you will be tasked with delivering technical assistance to end users. This encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including desktop and mobile computing, communication systems, end-user support, printing solutions, network infrastructure, and server storage management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver both frontline and advanced technical assistance to end users.
  • Manage and fulfill complex technology requests.
  • Conduct departmental helpdesk operations, including issue logging, tracking, and resolution.
  • Oversee and maintain software and hardware inventory records.
  • Execute upgrades, installations, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Respond to client inquiries and incident tickets for support.
  • Investigate advanced solutions for hardware and software issues.
  • Administer software licensing.
  • Provide expert support for mobile and smart devices.
  • Repair computer software and hardware, coordinating with external vendors for repairs and quotes as necessary.
  • Assist senior personnel with various projects.
  • Create device images and software packages for deployment.
  • Set up and deliver PC equipment, and manage the recycling of surplus equipment.
  • Process quotes, arrange procurement, and validate required hardware and software.
  • Track work in the problem management system, prepare progress reports, and maintain corporate workstation assets.
  • Stay updated on the company's computer systems.
  • Manage multiple resources, break down tasks, delegate responsibilities, and set milestones.
  • Estimate and execute tasks for minor or intermediate projects.
  • Provide intermediate support to the Technical Analyst I.
  • Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • 2-year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient in executing small projects.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • current operating systems relevant to the role
    • imaging processes in a corporate setting
    • software deployment in a corporate environment
    • working knowledge of server environments
  • Ability to maintain business relationships with suppliers, service representatives, and other organizations.
  • Experience with Windows Server-based network environments, including user maintenance, scheduling, printer configuration, and remote connectivity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and collaboration tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of all peripherals and network-attached devices, including printers, scanners, plotters, cameras, and mobile devices.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's license.
