Position Overview

In the role of Technical Analyst at FortisBC, you will be tasked with providing essential technical assistance to end users. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including desktop and mobile computing, communication systems, end-user support, printing devices, network infrastructure, and server storage, as well as data center equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver frontline and advanced technical assistance to our end users.
  • Administer and fulfill advanced technology requests.
  • Conduct departmental deskside/helpdesk functions, including problem reception, documentation, and tracking.
  • Manage departmental software and hardware inventory records.
  • Execute upgrades, installations, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to client inquiries and incident tickets for support.
  • Research advanced solutions for hardware and software issues.
  • Oversee software licensing administration.
  • Provide advanced support for mobile and smart devices.
  • Repair computer software and hardware, coordinating with external vendors for repairs and quotes as necessary.
  • Assist senior staff with various projects.
  • Create device images and software packages for deployment.
  • Set up and deliver PC equipment, as well as recycle excess surplus equipment.
  • Process quotes, arrange procurement, and validate necessary hardware and software.
  • Track work performed in the problem management system, prepare progress reports, and maintain corporate workstation assets.
  • Stay updated on the company's computer systems.
  • Administer multiple resources, break down tasks, delegate responsibilities, and set milestones.
  • Estimate and execute a series of tasks required for minor or intermediate projects.
  • Provide intermediate support to the Technical Analyst 1.
  • Some travel may be required.
Qualifications
  • 2-year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in executing small projects.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • current operating systems relevant to the role
    • imaging processes in a corporate setting
    • software deployment in a corporate environment
    • working knowledge of server environments
  • Ability to maintain business relationships with suppliers, service representatives, and other businesses.
  • Experience in a Windows Server-based network environment, including user maintenance, scheduling, printer configuration, and remote connectivity.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of all peripherals and network-attached devices, including but not limited to printers, scanners, plotters, cameras, and mobile devices.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's license.
