Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Analyst 2 to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our end users, ensuring the smooth operation of our computer systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide frontline and advanced technical support to our end users, including desktop computing, mobile computing, communications, and network infrastructure.
  • Administer and complete advanced technology requests, including software and hardware installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Perform departmental deskside/helpdesk functions, including problem receiving, recording, and tracking.
  • Administer departmental software and hardware inventory records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Perform upgrades, installations, and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our computer systems and networks.
  • Respond to client calls and incident tickets for support, providing timely and effective solutions to technical issues.
  • Research and implement advanced end-user solutions for hardware and software, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our customers.
  • Administer software licensing, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Provide advanced support for mobile and smart devices, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Repair computer software and/or hardware, and arrange with external vendors to obtain repairs and quotes when necessary.
  • Assist senior staff on various projects, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
  • Create device images and software packages for deployment, ensuring seamless integration with our existing systems.
  • Set-up and deliver PC equipment, recycle excess surplus equipment, and process quotes and procure necessary hardware and software.
  • Track work performed in problem management systems, prepare progress reports, and administer and maintain corporate workstation assets.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company's computer systems, staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Administer multiple resources, task breakdown, and delegation, setting milestones and estimating/ executing tasks required for minor or intermediate projects.
  • Provide intermediate support to the technical analyst 1, ensuring a smooth transition of tasks and responsibilities.
Requirements
  • 2-year diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 4 years' experience in related work experience.
  • Competence in executing small projects, with a strong understanding of current operating systems, imaging processes, software deployment, and server environments.
  • Related work experience and a strong understanding of:
    • current operating systems applicable to the job
    • imaging processes in a corporate environment
    • software deployment in a corporate environment
    • working knowledge of the server environment
  • Maintaining business contacts with suppliers, service reps, and other businesses.
  • Windows Server-based network environment, including user maintenance, scheduling, printer configuration, remote connectivity, etc.
  • Microsoft Office applications, collaboration, and communication systems.
  • Advanced working knowledge of all peripherals and network-attached devices, including printers, scanners, plotters, cameras, mobile, and smart devices.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's license.
