The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to join our Strategy and Improvement portfolio at IWK Health Centre. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping and implementing our strategic framework, driving business growth, and improving patient outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning, leadership, and governance, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful strategies that drive business results. You will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in the development and implementation of our annual strategic plan, as well as overseeing the management and delivery of approved business cases and provincial transformation initiatives.

You will also be responsible for developing and implementing our continuous improvement program, including leading and facilitating priority LEAN improvement projects. Additionally, you will be accountable for developing and implementing our enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, including its risk and control registers.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Level Degree in a health-related discipline, health administration, or related subjects, with a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a relevant field of expertise, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role. You will have expert content knowledge in key areas of leadership responsibility, including strategic planning, quality improvement methodologies, and enterprise risk management.

You will be an exceptional communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, interest-based negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. You will also have strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement our annual strategic plan, including leading a team of professionals in its development and implementation.
  • Oversee the management and delivery of approved business cases and provincial transformation initiatives.
  • Develop and implement our continuous improvement program, including leading and facilitating priority LEAN improvement projects.
  • Develop and implement our enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, including its risk and control registers.
  • Lead a team of professionals in the development and implementation of our strategic framework.
  • Communicate our strategic framework to all staff and physicians, and translate strategy into action to achieve a culture alignment and accountability.
Requirements
  • Master's Level Degree in a health-related discipline, health administration, or related subjects.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a relevant field of expertise, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
