Job Description

Executive Director

The Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth seeks a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead the Halifax Particular Council (HPC) in its mission to serve those in need. As the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for guiding the Society through its next stage of development, building on its 156-year history of successfully helping people in need.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership Role: Provide strategic leadership to the HPC and its member conferences, ensuring the organization's vision and mission are achieved.
  2. Strategic Planning: Work with the HPC Executive to establish a strategic vision, priorities, policies, goals, and objectives, consistent with the organization's values and mission.
  3. Communication and Fundraising: Develop and implement effective internal and external communication systems, increase brand awareness and visibility, and expand fundraising activities to support the Society's projects.
  4. Staff Management: Direct current part-time and potential future staff, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to achieve their goals.
  5. Financial Management: Oversee the Society's finances, including budget preparation, financial reporting, and donor fund allocation.
  6. Community Engagement: Act as the principal liaison between the HPC, other organizations, and the community, building relationships and partnerships to advance the organization's mission.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary degree program or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role, with a proven track record of successfully managing people and programs.
  • Skills: Highly organized and experienced leader, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and strong public speaking skills.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of financing, strategic planning, and budget preparation, as well as experience in governance and digital literacy.
Work Environment
  • Position: Full-time based in Halifax, NS.
  • Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Salary: Based on experience, with an expected range of $80,000 - $90,000.
