About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Coordinator to join our team at the Department of Health and Wellness. As a key member of the Planning & Investment Team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of strategic plans and investments that drive healthcare outcomes for Nova Scotians.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gather and compile evidence to inform strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Support the maturation of investment processes and advise on robust governance and accountability processes, policies, and strategies.
  • Coordinate and review progress measurement, including project status, impact, and value, to ensure alignment with departmental priorities and goals.
  • Lead the coordination and planning of health priority and knowledge sharing workshops and conference sessions for Nova Scotia's health leaders.
  • Contribute to a departmental culture of evidence-informed decision making and promote continuous learning and inquiry.
  • Support the Planning and Investment team regarding project planning, divisional planning, and strategic narrative development.
Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for a candidate with a bachelor's degree and several years of progressive and relevant experience. Additional skills and experience may include:

  • A positive and professional approach to leadership.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engagement with internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and/or coordinating and synthesizing materials.
  • Excellent writing, organization, and planning skills.
  • A highly organized, confident, communicator and presenter.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work with an extensive stakeholder community with tact, diplomacy, and an ability to build effective relationships to operate successfully in a political or complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee the implementation and operations of processes, projects, and policies would be considered an asset.
