Position Responsibilities
- Deliver thorough clinical speech pathology services to patients.
- Conduct assessments, analyses, and evaluations for patients with severe or complex medical conditions.
- Develop a treatment strategy aligned with the individual needs of each patient.
- Ensure seamless care through informed decision-making that enhances patient outcomes.
- Provide effective patient care following collaborative clinical pathways.
- Proactively identify potential patient crises through ongoing assessment of outcomes.
- Delegate responsibilities efficiently and identify the need for policy and procedure updates related to specialized patient groups and departmental practices.
- Engage in the orientation of new team members within the department.
- May act as a mentor for new staff and students.
- Oversee daily practices to ensure adherence to established patient care standards.
- Participate in regular evaluations of quality assurance initiatives.
- Support the supervision of auxiliary staff and students.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback, address issues, train employees, verify competencies, and suggest skill development opportunities.
- Maintain regular communication with the patient care team, patients, family members, and others involved in patient care.
- Assist in maintaining clear and accurate communication across interdisciplinary and interdepartmental lines.
- Educate patients and families, providing instruction on relevant aspects of care.
- Evaluate and assist staff in assessing complex patient cases and challenges.
- Administer direct care to complex patients, executing specialized treatments as per individualized care plans.
- Enhance patient knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise.
- Design, implement, and refine a results-driven treatment plan tailored to the unique needs of each patient, incorporating clear and measurable objectives.
- Adjust treatment plans based on patient responses.
- Collaborate with other members of the patient care team and utilize community resources for ongoing care, support, and follow-up post-discharge.
- Recommend and acquire necessary equipment.
- Provide consultation and direct support to staff and physicians in patient management.
- Offer clinical management consultation to the professional community and the broader public.
- Respond to inquiries for professional information or advice, referring complex issues to appropriate personnel.
- Conduct in-service educational sessions.
- Assist in mentoring clinical staff, providing skills training in areas of expertise.
- Participate in committees focused on patient care matters or other relevant committees as needed.
- May engage in research activities as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Current licensure in Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Georgia.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- At least one year of experience in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification as per American Heart Association standards.
