About the Role

The BC Public Service is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Program Officer 24R to join our team in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. As a key member of our Integrated Collaborative Permanency Teams, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, stability, and well-being of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive care plans for children, ensuring their needs are met and their rights are upheld.
  • Work closely with caregivers to support children through entry into care, placement, and permanency.
  • Facilitate and support Out of Care options, assess placements, and maintain a range of resources for children in need.
  • Collaborate with local Bands and communities to ensure culturally sensitive and responsive services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of recent related work experience, preferably in child and family services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working as a Social Worker carrying a Guardianship and/or Resource caseload.
  • Current C3 or C4 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Service Act.
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families, and communities.
  • SAFE home study certification and experience, and/or Resource and Payment (RAP) experience and/or training.
